This blog began in Room 52 at Alexander Muir/Gladstone Ave Junior and Senior Public School in 2011. I am now a former Toronto District School Board (TDSB) educator on a new journey at the University of Toronto Scarborough. So, while I may never find myself in Room 52, the blog's name is an homage to one of the school communities, central to my development as an educator and person.

First Day of School
I am sure there are many of you who will be tired and challenged by the new (kinda old, though) morning routines. I came across this article on sleeping tips for young people from the CBC.
Have a great first day!

This day was a bit out of the ordinary. The students, who are in the HSP program for part of the day, spent the day with the homeroom they are attached with. This year, the HSP groupings have been split in two, due to their larger size. Also, by spending more time with the Rotary group, the students will have a more integrated experience in the Senior Division. For the Grade 8s, they will have either Mr. Chung or Ms. Pham. For the Grade 7s, they will have either Mr. Marles or Ms. Ayearst.
Tomorrow, they will join me in Room 52. I hope to have a hard copy of the student schedule to them by Thursday. As we work through the cycle, there may be some changes as we make some adjustments.
