Tuesday

Although I did not take a picture of the event, the class visited the school Library to meet our Librarian, Ms. Wills and learn about the procedures for taking out books.  The class may select books after the 3:23 dismissal, at lunch hour, and between 8:33 and 8:53 in the morning.  Our school has an excellent collection of materials, especially for pre-teen and teens.

We began a weekly reading partnership with Mr.McLaughlin's Senior Kindergarten class.  Reading Buddies will encourage a sense of comfort and confidence in reading to a younger student and helping them with words and ideas and, I hope, the love and magic contained in books.  Here are some photos of our first session in Room 52.  We may move down to the SK room for the next session.

Although I like to do Community Circle on Mondays, we did it today.  The students have between a minute and two minutes to comment on a given topic.  They must go through the criteria outlined in this chart.  I think I may have posted this before, but here it is:

The Grade 7s need to finish up this exercise.  Not only does it encourage providing details to speaking, it develops a sense of comfort when speaking to an audience.

Since there is no assigned homework, the students should read for 30 minutes and review their multiplication tables. Have a good evening.
