The opportunity to correct their work, and hopefully understand it, is in the form of a Rewrite. I have posted this before, but it is worth asking your son or daughter if they are going to do this to help improve his or her understanding of the material.
I also handed out a sheet detailing the Book Talk assignment. The presentations for this will begin on May 28. Here is the handout:
As part of the Art portion of the assignment, I would like the students to try something different: A Diorama!
According to dictionary.com, it is:
noun
1.
a scene, often in miniature, reproduced in three dimensions by placing objects, figures, etc., in front of a painted background.
2.
a life-size display representing a scene from nature, a historical event, or the like, using stuffed wildlife, wax figures, real objects, etc., in front of a painted or photographed background.
Here are some images of some dioramas I took from the Internet:
Obviously I don't intend to see productions like the one on the right, but this will give you an ideas of just how dynamic these can be.
In the afternoon, we had a little tournament of a game that will prep the students for doing some work in Geography and Geometry. It is a game called Gridlock and is meant to keep to introduce the students to the idea of coordinate locations on a grid. Here are some images from the game's activities:
