This blog began in Room 52 at AMG Junior and Senior Public School in 2011.
This site has followed me to a few schools since then and now joined the roster of retired blogs in the social media universe. The journey and reflection will continue in different and exciting spaces.
Room 52 remains one of the most significant places of teaching and learning for me and grateful to the students and staff who supported me there. Thank you.

Here is the first of the first two Dance/Movement presentations today. This Activity attempted to pair the main concepts learned in Geometry (Translations, Rotations, and Reflections) with the Elements of Dance.
Homework: Superhero work. Students may use the Library blog as a guide for what to do with the project. The more formal writing part of the assignment will be explained next week, the students should make sure:
- they have the rough notes on the Strength and Struggles of their hero (themselves) written on your Library blog page - if you work on your hero you must save your work in a file (word processing) so you will have it to load when you want to work on it again - for those of you who did not write the Math quiz, it will be on Monday - for those of you who did not hand in the Spelling, it was due today
In order to orient the class to some mapping work, we are going to be using a map of Canada and the United States to become more familiar with the location of specific locations. A number of students are unfamiliar with where Vancouver, British Columbia is or Halifax Nova Scotia. This is a worksheet that the students will be working on in class:
The Math quiz scheduled for Thursday has been moved to Friday. To assist with the review, I would encourage a review of the homework we have been doing in class and even some of the videos posted over the past couple of days on the blog.
I am going to post some images of work done in class and add a few comments about each image.

The students will be working on a portion of the assignment where they will have to SAVE the image of the hero they are creating:
This is a code for the hero I am creating. Instructions are provided of how to save it into a Microsoft Word file. This file can be then used to load the details of the project and continue working on it.

I recorded some video of Me to We presenter, Scott Hammell last week when he visited out school. Unfortunately, I erased it. I downloaded, and hope to upload, this video from the internet. It is a whole page dedicated to Scott and what he does to motivate young people.
Here is a video of Scott in action. The name of the presentation was Paid to Breathe. I haven't quite figured that out, but I know he talked about the importance of taking things one step at a time, setting goals for yourself, and stepping out of your comfort zone, if you are prepared to do something special in the world.

Kortnee was our last presenter for the Book Talk assignment and I caught a photo of her:
I had a couple of photos of the advanced work we have been doing in Math, but I left them on my USB key at school. I will upload them very soon.
I think there are only 14 more school days left in the year. We will be working right up until the last moment of the year. Please remind your son or daughter that now is not the time to slack off!!
There is a small Dance and Movement assignment we are doing in class. We have four groups of students who will be working together to create a movement performance based on some of the Elements of Dance found in the curriculum. They are also using some of the movements we are learning about in Geometry. Here is the planning sheet they are using and a couple of quick shots of a group in practice and making notes on what to do.
There are a number of students who have not completed the Diorama project. It was due last Monday and an extension was given until yesterday (Thursday, June 6). This is due on Monday.

I did not assign any homework this weekend, but should have, for some assignments that will be wrapping up over the next two to three weeks of school. Have a good weekend.

The cost of the Grade 8 Grad lunch is $10. The date has changed from the one on this form, but I do not remember it right now. The money is due ASAP.
