Wow.  This will probably be the last entry until late August or early September.  It is hard to believe that the school year is over.  At times, it felt as though it would go on forever and at times it seemed to sprint on by.

I wish all the graduates the best as they prepare for high school and, for all of the students in Room 52, a safe and happy summer.

We had a visit from Ms. Tai's class on Wednesday.  They are a very talented group under the guidance of an excellent teacher.  They shared some of the narrative work they have been doing in class.  If this video uploads, you should hear small samples of the stories they read and some of the images that went with each narrative.

For the remainder of my last entry, I will post some photos from the final days at school.  There are a few graduation shots, some images of the students outside, and my traditional (or what now seems to be traditional) shot of the empty classroom.

Watch the red balloon!

Have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Monday, June 25, 2013

I should have put this in a note on Friday, but I asked the students to think about an item of food that they may want to bring to a class Pot Luck on Wednesday.  As of today, no one had any ideas about what to bring.

The year is winding down.  At some points, it seemed as though the year would never end.

A friend of mine of Facebook shared this video about 2 young boys who may challenge your ideas about who you may think they are based on how they look.  Very cool.

Here are a few shots of yesterday's rehearsal for the Grade 8 grad.  In my 4 years of doing grad rehearsals at AMG, this has been the best one!  Meaning, the students listened very well and did an above average job of getting ready.

One of my favourite views outside at AMG.
Have a good weekend.  There was no homework, but there was a Geography test this past week and a Math test last week.  Please ask your son or daughter about how they think they did.

FRIDAY, JUNE 21, 2013: first day of summer!!

Here is a link to the Vancouver Sun newspaper with some information about the flash floods which happened in Calgary, Alberta.  It pictures Momo (no relation to Monique Samuels) fighting for her life and going for a swim.

Two review videos made before the final Geography quiz today.  The Promethean Board seemed to be working better today.

Some scenes from this year's grad rehearsal and grand luncheon at Bairrada Restaurant on College.

Ariane and others.  I must apologize for the technical problems I am having with uploading the videos and image of our Geography review today.  I am not sure what the problem is but it did not work.  Any final questions can be asked during a review in the morning.

My apologies.

Here is a link to the Library blog with information about the Superhero assignemnt.
Only Part a) and b) of the assignment should be completed for now.

Tomorrow, I will explain Part c) (the sentence writing part).

Here are are a few images of the heroes that have already been created:

Here is a reality health check fact:  Freezies do contain more sugar than a can of Coke.  This image is taken from http://www.sugarstacks.com/beverages.htm

There are 39 grams in the small 355mL can.  One Freezie is  150 mL and contains 23 grams of sugar.  Based on the quantity of liquid you are consuming, there is more sugar per mL in the Freezie.

Here are a few images from the morning session of Jump Rope for Heart.  I was disappointed to see some students who did not get involved and get their hearts pumping.

Here are some afternoon shots:

I have a short video, but it is acting moody.  I will attempt to post it later.

Here it is!
